Sandy, this is so good. Once Christians begin listing all the "purposes" we each are to pursue, the one true purpose of loving God whole-heartedly is replaced with idolatry. May we ever remember from whence we came and for Whose glory we have been called into the Kingdom. Thank you for reminding us of this important truth!!!

Sandy, I appreciate this post. You may have already noted that the more controversial topics among Christians get a lot of responses out in the blogopsphere, and the less controversial entries don't get as much. At least, such has been what I have encountered. However, what you say in this entry is more important than than any of those controversies. Among true Christians, what you say here is not a controversy -- it is a central truth about who we are and what we are called to be and do in this world. It is a subject worthy of our focus and attention, and it is uplifting to think about. Amen.

Sometimes the controversies get me bogged down, but it is entries such as this that lift me up!
